Gaelic Occitan TOgether For language Users Through United Roots and Experiences

Le projet GO TO the FUTURE a été réalisé dans le cadre d’un appel à projet européen Erasmus+, dans le secteur de la coopération en matière d'innovation et d’échanges de bonnes pratiques.

L’objectif du projet était de partager entre plusieurs pays européens des expériences sur le plan éducatif et d’échanger sur des stratégies de sauvegarde et de valorisation du patrimoine culturel, avec pour finalités :

• de valoriser et développer l'enseignement d'une langue minoritaire et la promotion d’une culture régionale,
 
• de réfléchir à des méthodes de sensibilisation,
 
• de créer des outils d'enseignement et de diffusion innovants,
 
• de faire ressortir les apports de la langue régionale dans les différents champs de la connaissance ainsi que l’importance de la culture régionale comme référence aux valeurs de la citoyenneté européenne.
 

Le choix a été fait de travailler sur trois langues inscrites dans des aires géographiques distinctes et héritières d'origines linguistiques différentes : l'occitan, le gaélique écossais et le gaélique irlandais (Gaeilge).

Les trois pays partenaires sont la France, l’Ecosse et l’Irlande.

La réflexion transversale menée tout au long du projet a été à l’origine de la production d’outils innovants aptes à sensibiliser le public aux valeurs des langues et des cultures régionales.

Ainsi, une mallette pédagogique a été réalisée par l’ensemble des partenaires, à destination des enseignants et des élèves. Elle est composée de fiches thématiques présentant les éléments culturels propres à chaque territoire. Les domaines abordés permettent une utilisation interdisciplinaire.

L'édition d'un livre illustré de photographies des espaces occitan et gaéliques, enrichi d’extraits d’œuvres et de réactions des participants au projet, constitue un outil de valorisation complémentaire à la mallette pédagogique et est également à destination du grand public.

Enfin, la présente application numérique permet de retrouver le matériel pédagogique disponible dans la mallette. Ce contenu est également complété par l’accès à des activités et des ressources interactives, la variété des supports permettant de faciliter la mémorisation et l’acquisition des éléments culturels et linguistiques.

The GO TO the FUTURE project was developed within the framework of a European Erasmus+ call for proposals in the field of cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices.

This project aimed to share experiences with other European countries in the field of education as well as strategies for the preservation and promotion of linguistic and cultural heritage.

The main objectives were as follows :

• to enhance and develop the teaching of a minority language and the promotion of a regional culture;
 
• to reflect on awareness-raising methods;
 
• to create innovative teaching and dissemination tools; and  
 
• to highlight the value of regional languages in various fields of knowledge and also the importance of regional cultures as a means for sharing European citizenship values.
 

It was chosen to work with three languages in three distinct geographical areas and having three distinct linguistic origins: Occitan, Scottish Gaelic and Gaeilge.

The three partner countries are France, Scotland and Ireland.

The cross-cutting thinking carried out during the whole project has resulted in the creation of innovative tools which will help to raise public awareness of the value of regional languages and cultures.

An educational toolkit has been conceived by the project partnership which is targeted at teachers and pupils. It consists of thematic worksheets which present the cultural elements specific to each area. The topics covered are suitable for inter-disciplinary use.

The publication of a book of photographs from the Occitan and Gaelic/Gaeilge regions, enriched with artistic contents and comments from the project participants, is a promotional tool also aimed at raising public awareness of regional languages and is complementary to the educational toolkit. 

Thirdly, the website you are currently visiting gives access to the content of the educational toolkit in a digital version. It also incorporates interactive activities and resources and uses a variety of media to facilitate the acquisition and memorisation of cultural and linguistic elements.
